I suppose that since I’ll be making entries into this blog, that I should introduce my self as well! My name is Paige, and I’m just over 36 weeks pregnant with our first child. We are anxiously awaiting our newest little adventurer and can’t wait to show him or her a life outdoors. As Cris mentioned, we have opted out of finding what sex he or she will be, and are simply hoping for a happy, healthy baby.
I always say that I grew up in the back seat of a Jeep. A 1963 CJ5 to be exact. My dad bought it brand new when he was 16 and it’s currently going through its third rebuild in his garage. This has been my dream vehicle for as long as I can remember. In later years, while the Jeep was out of commission, we rode in a heavily modified and well-loved 1990 Bronco that is still running my dad around on his adventures.
My mom likes to say that I rode in her backpack as they hiked across the Sierras at 6 weeks old, and one of my earliest and fondest memories was having the chicken pox around age 5 (I think) on a beach in Baja with my little brother, where we used to go for at least two to three weeks every year to camp with a group of close family friends. These kinds of extended camping trips were the norm for us, and I know my brother and I were extremely lucky to have experienced that kind of lifestyle. It was an amazing way to grow up, and fostered my love of adventure and the outdoors from a very young age. Something I hope to accomplish with our little one.
Because I am so far along, I have started opting out of the most recent trips with Cris. My morning sickness never really went away, and off-roading of any kind just doesn’t work for me right now. Not only that, but getting in and out of the truck is getting much harder. I didn’t realize how much I would miss it, and find my self itching to get back out as soon as possible with the baby and new daddy. We are already planning the first very easy Big Bear trip in a few months, a single over night just to see how the system will work with a little one.
