Maneuvering Through Maternity Leave

HR Speak is Confusing. It’s a whole different language full of options, but never advice.

My particular HR person at work is very good but still is not legally allowed to tell me what options I SHOULD choose, or even what would most benefit me, only what options there are available. Unfortunately, even she gets confused wading through the company benefits, VS the California state options VS the federal options sometimes. Especially since our home office is across the country from where I am located, and laws are different in many states.

A rambling update

Not really sure what to say today.  There is a ton of stuff going on, but at the same time, there is absolutely nothing happening.  We are currently in our room at the hospital, the first round of medications for the induction have been administered and now we are back to waiting.  Which as far as I am concerned the waiting has been the hardest part of the entire process so far.

The wait continues . . .

Well, nothing yet, absolutely nothing.

I think this has been the hardest part of the process for me.  When we had time left it was no big deal, but now that we are this close the hours seem to be dragging on. It has been 12 days since the doctors predicted a week and 4 days since they said if it is not here in a week they will induce,  and yet nothing.

I know that it is better for the baby to “cook a little longer” (and with the SoCal temps today it sure is cooking) but that does not seem to help calm the anxiousness.
